we do complain of your examples. After a (admittedly, very quick and non-exhaustive) search, I found this ( https://www.vox.com/2017/12/29/16830128/amazon-trump-twitter-postal-service-feud ) from vox.com. It gives a more nuanced view, pointing out that some of the discount comes from insuring proper labelling, boxing, sorting etc.
Kinda the same discount any business gets for pre-sorting their mail (think bulk mail).
It also points out that USPS's "package department" is the arm of the USPS that is actually making money, and the "first class delivery" arm is what is in trouble.
It also points out some of the issues you reference.

Court cases & the Commerce Clause require sales taxes be collected if the retailer has a presence

It's not just Amazon, a lot of my packages from other retailiers start from Fedex, and are delivered
