They had a search warrant and retrieved what they needed. So long as everything they took was within the constraints of that search warrant there was nothing legally preventing them from going through everything they retrieved the instant they had it.

IMO this delaying tactic is a bit late to do any good. Cohen and Spanky can ASK for a restraining order, but it seems that until it's granted there's nothing keeping the feds from doing whatever they need with any evidence they legally collected (someone correct me if that's wrong).
