(90,643 posts)It is very educational to explore Canada's immigration website, as my husband did during the BushCheney admin and then after Trump got in. They prefer people who are educated, have desirable skills, speak more than one language, and are not retirement age.
In other words, someone who can contribute to society and to the tax base. If you are old, you need to bring alot of money to make up for the fact that you never contributed to their health care infrastructure during your working life. That is just reality.
My kids are adults and have no desire to move from where they are. I have no desire to leave them behind.
My people have been on this continent since shortly after 1620. I always come back to: this is the ground I stand on. That is my point of view.
