We produce hardly any soy beans, and same for natural gas. So we depend on imports for these.

If we get lower tariffs to export things into the US that we actually DO produce, in exchange for buying soy and natural gas from the US instead of other countries, that might actually be a win.

In any case, getting Trump out of his "25% tariffs on cars from the EU!" mood and avoid the consequences we'd have to impose on the US in retaliation, that's nice.
