My brother in-law was one of those firefighters in California for about twenty-five years. Very difficult and dangerous work for sure. He is retired as a Captain. His body couldn’t handle the difficult work anymore. He works for them I think on a contact basis though helping when they need rehab work done on fire stations. He doesn’t miss the firefight-it became to difficult for him, but I’m sure he misses the brotherhood.
