(11,726 posts)Putin may not suffer significant consequences in a personal manner but Russia is straining against the effects of the Magnitsky Act and once Democrats regain power in government, Putin knows that Russia will be hit with major sanctions, that we will be mending fences with the EU. Russia's economy was in shambles because they are dependent on energy exporting as a main revenue.
We know Russia was behind the nerve agent attack, we know that they assassinated the owner of RT and it is irrelevant whether we say Putin knew and did it himself. We hit Russia with more and more sanctions and they will feel it. If there is ANY possibility that Russia would be involved in an assassination of someone in our government, there may be a tiny sliver of people who would defend it, but they are not in power and they would be irrelevant with regards to a government reaction to the act.
