What is the difference between having son and having a daughter? I have both. [View all]

When my son goes out, I tell him to be careful and be smart. I worry about his safe return.

When one of my daughters goes out, I am terrified. One of my daughters is taking a bus home from college for her Fall break. It is about a 5 hour bus ride. Here is what I tell her:

1. Don't talk to anyone on the bus.
2. Don't talk to anyone at the bus stop.
3. Don't leave the area immediately around the bus.
4. Don't go to the bathroom at the bus stop.
5. Make sure you phone is fully charged. Leave it on at all times.

Paranoid? Overboard? Maybe. But I won't relax until she is at home.

Trying to, in any way, equate what women face and what men face when it comes to their well being in public or private is facetious bullshit. Thats my .02.
