Dec 2018

I look at democracies around the world and I don't see them electing super star candidates. They don't have to fall head-over-heels in love with their leaders. One of the strongest Western leaders in recent history has been Germany's Angela Merkel, considered by many to be the most powerful woman in the world. She does not have celebrity good looks and charisma, but she is a competent, intelligent leader.

Between now and the presidential election, I will keep reminding myself, that I don't need to fall in love and I can accept differences of opinion, if it means sane, principled leadership. I'll also try not to compare him or her to Obama. There is only one Obama and he will be a tough act to follow.

I'm with you. I'd love to shorten the season where we in-fight like dogs and fall for every planted Squinch Dec 2018 #1
