A fantastic candidate like Beto couldn't win in Texas against a hated opponent in a Democratic year. It will be extremely tough for Castro to beat Cornyn in 2020, who is more popular than Cruz.

Then again, Cruz is a far better debater and campaigner than Cornyn, so it might be close.
