the exact amount of money (1.3B) his own budget shop requested for "border security" in the DHS budget request. That fact has become lost in the ongoing reporting of the shutdown.

Dems need to start saying if DHS needed more for border security, they should have asked for it when they submitted their initial budget. And if they need the money, they need to submit a request for increased funding.
