...that she didn't want to be directly associated with the compromises the panel selected might eventually make on her vision of the New Deal.

After all, she didn't pick the structure of the committee, the Speaker did, notably apart from what AOC wanted. Maybe she just wants distance from all of that in order to maintain the integrity of her proposal as she represents it.
