(29,671 posts)They just didn't use proper technique or anything even closely resembling it. I've done plenty of takedowns over the years-once upon a time they were three man until many mental institutions got rid of the three man with the third on legs. (As a 5'2, 112lb woman in my early 20's I was usually on the legs because I regularly worked my lower body and could squat longer than the other staff. Those were the days.) Most now do a two man hold with pivots. Learn the technique and it's not that hard. More than anything the male jailer was in the way.
With that many people already in the cell there was no way they could ever properly implement a hold or a takedown. They didn't have the room for it. I'm not really sure why they were doing it in the first place. He seemed secure in his holding cell.
