Martin Luther once said, what harm is there in a lie, a good lie... as long as it's for the good of Christ and the church. The Roman historian Eusebius (Constantine's biographer) said the same about lies for the church although he called them his "medicinal fictions". Thomas Aquinas and St. Augustine said lies for the Christ are forgivable. The idea of brainwashing the masses and controling the message through lies in the name of ideology is entrenched in our society. No wonder people fall for ficticious memes that bolster their egos so easily and completely.
