(63,509 posts)Much as we and our parents repeat what our parents did, so do they. The few that stand up make headlines like the Parkland kids.
We like to believe that the younger generation is standing up, but like generations for eons past they pretty much do what their parents taught them. One myth that lives on is that the public was against Viet Nam and protests brought it to an end. While the protests were sometimes spectacular, most Americans went along.
Most of our generation used the societal control mechanisms to control our kids who in turn have done the same with the current young folks.
So while we hope they will be the generation that says 'enough' they too are concerned about money, jobs, housing and raising their kids. Step out of line and you may never get the chance back.
