(37,648 posts)She is against impeaching any President, as a general rule, since she thinks it's divisive and doesn't promote "unity."
So she's not coming from an impartial viewpoint, or from the viewpoint of holding a President accountable.
She also thinks that the Senate's likely blocking impeachment might deter any indictment of him after he leaves office.
If it were just her decision, she probably would never decide to impeach. She will have to be convinced to go along with it, by a large number of the House reps. She would go along with it, if it were bipartisan (which it would never be when fascists are in control of the opposing party).
I don't know whether we should or not. But in the end, it does come down to: if they have to the duty to uphold the law, do they do so, knowing it may backfire in the longrun? Or do they not do it, knowing that justice may come in the future...hopefully...maybe?
"He knows its not a good idea to be impeached, but the silver lining for him is then he believes he would be exonerated by the United States Senate, and theres a school of thought that says if the Senate acquits you, why bring charges against him in the private sector when hes no longer president?" Pelosi told the ABC host.
