(3,433 posts)It's singular purpose is to hold the president to account for high crimes and misdemeanors. It is the stopgap to prevent corruption and despotism from occurring within the highest office of our country.
I still have faith that Pelosi and the Democrat leadership understand what they are doing and have a plan in place to hold the president accountable. At some point however action must be taken. That will be the moment of truth because even if the Senate will not support impeachment, the house has an obligation to impeach even if it is politically inconvenient and detrimental. Our constitution means nothing if it is not enforced. If the president can truly do whatever he wants without repercussion then we have installed a monarch.
