There are many possible attributions for this quote, but the message is timeless.

The rule of law is under attack from many fronts, foreign and domestic. The fastest way to fix it would be unlawful - summary arrests, trials and removal from office.

The minute you do that, you are further damaging the rule of law. The only way to enforce the rule of law is to be lawful. The wheels of justice may turn more slowly than what we'd like. But to lay the proper framework for repairs, we must resolve the problems within the letter of the law.

Multiple legal actions are already underway, many of which we cannot see. Just because we cannot see it doesn't mean it isn't happening.

While we wait for the specialists to complete their work, we need to make sure that we keep new crooks out of office. Use your despair productively. Find a good candidate and volunteer in some way. While they work from the top down, we have to work from the bottom up.

No time to despair. Courage.
