Even with Trump out of the White House, that obviously won’t stop him from opining away on the “socialists, they’re bad people” theme for years to come. His base (and his low-profile enablers) will never tire of trotting him out to rouse the rabble. If support for this sad act sticks at 40% and spreads no further, whatever toxic offshoots that Trumpism has spawned can be held in check, and with some serious hard effort, outmaneuvered with the scenario you present.

And I absolutely agree about breaking up every dirty Republican tactic of voter suppression/vote stealing/“ballot irregularities,” etc. And YES, as you point out, the local/state elections are vital. This is how Republicans got where they are, and that’s why they control 22 states top-to-bottom.

Strange and crazy days ahead. Many other countries are now under nationalist rule, or have a strong nationalist presence in their governments. Let’s get the U.S. the hell off that list, and keep it off!
