(73 posts)33. The claims they were making are just not believable
The public would have ante'd up $48,000 per job. The public should ante up $0.
The people involved with the deal claimed it would be a 9:1 ratio in gain:loss for the public. I find that humorous but in a sad way.
Why? Because it's just not believable.
These deals are always sold as being spectacular and they NEVER work out that way. Corporate PR and corporate negotiators are very smart and they are very slick. And they have a real strong inclination to lie through their teeth.
Again, look at Foxconn in Wisconsin. Do you think that deal is going to end up being as great as it was sold to the public?

If a corporation can't afford to expand on their own dime they shouldn't expand.

Amazon was playing the jobs angle, when they plan to fully automate that facility in 2 years.

If you looked into the deal in NYC, you would know that it's nothing like the one in Seattle. Next?

Amazon was never handed "cap free cash". As I've said a number of times, READ the deal!

Yes, they chose not to. That's what makes the "quietly came to NY" reference particularly odd.
