In reply to the discussion: This is the best summary of why we hate 45 I've ever seen. [View all]forgotmylogin
(7,526 posts)34. I love the right-wing sealioning questions on Quora.
Usually they're more blatant, but you can hear the implication:
"Why are people (the lib'rul left) so hostile toward (our Great) President Donald J. ('murica) Trump?"
The "Hes an authoritarian populist, not a conservative." is basically the best short version of this.
It's very true: "He advances regressive social policy while proposing to expand federal spending and federalist authority over states, both of which conservatives are supposed to hate."
There is another response a bit lower from Jim Davis (likely not that one!) that starts:
He is personally despicable. He is a hardcore narcissist who cares or thinks literally about no one but himself, except maybe for Ivanka, his daughter, whom he openly lusts after, making remarks about her physical beauty, particularly her rack. These are indecent thoughts from an indecent man. He is openly misogynistic, reducing women to sex objects and admittedly grab[bing] them by the pussy. He says, They let you when youre a star, which is how he sees himself.
Further down, Michael Lawson:
Donald Trump was rich, but he was not one of them. He was brash, and bold, and he used off-color language, and hes about as subtle as a dick in a birthday cake. He got along far better with cab drivers, strippers, and construction workers than he did with Ivy League polisci dorks like the ones in Washington. He was a peasant who took a shot at the big chair, and at first, they thought it was hilarious.
Also astute observation by Adam Roach:
He asked for it.
Donald Trump has spent the last 8 years trolling Barack Obama. He became the face of Right Wing internet Trolls. Blasting the then President with unfounded half truths, outright lies and grandiose claims.
The Obama people kinda sat back and watched, occasionally chastising or just shook their heads. They took their queue from Obama himself, who essentially ignored Donald Trump.
Many of them wanted to lash out and vent their anger but they attempted to emulate old Barry.
Barack Obama is gone now and there is no new leader to Chill them out. They have nearly a decade of pent up frustration with the ill informed subsets of the Right Wing and there is no good reason not to cut loose.
I sympathize. Donald Trump is principally responsible for my affection for Obama. I shouldn't like Barry nearly as much as I do but after years of watching him more or less Handle the Extreme Right I realized he was a better man than I. A better Leader.
Trump has brought a lack of civility and decorum to our politics but that's a double edged sword That swings both ways. Liberals can scream and berate just as well as conservatives.
Historically it's the leftist liberals you have to watch out for too. A little crowd of them once wrote the Declaration of Independence, another group toppled France, still another group waged war across the entire length of Asia and beyond. Angry leftists tend to do things.
Trump may have woken a sleeping giant. The liberals have been in retreat for 3 decades in this country. For so long that most don't remember how they were when they were motivated and focused. Every time he opens his mouth he reinforces that focus.

Great response by Chris O'Leary, followed by terrible response by Victor Lange.

I'd add he is a genocidal maniac, intent on carrying out a great genocide on the American people

Agreed with all but I don't have a problem with him "removing us as leaders..."

Right, but reverse a handful of years and we openly mocked the idea that Russia was even a threat.
