In reply to the discussion: Check in here if you have Outrage Fatigue. [View all]PSPS
(13,587 posts)43. It's an industry now. The "outrage industry" that pumps out endless "outrage porn"
It generates clicks, keeps people listening to and watching programs (and commercials) they never would ordinarily listen to or watch. It's a masochistic exercise. You watch/listen, get riled up, and ... what? What's the point? There's nothing you can do about any of it anyway. Why put yourself through it? Just unplug. Disconnect yourself from the outrage industry. Change the channel. Find something productive to do with your time (and life.) You can still keep up with important things by skimming headlines in normal places like your local newspaper. Avoid TV, especially cable "news" shows, which are really just opinion shows and are a major player in the outrage porn industry.

I find that I cannot listen to the news any more. I read it but I can't listen.

What fatigues me is friends, neighbors, co-workers, family, STILL sticking up for Trump.

Watching the crime channel or stories about serial killers is more uplifting.
