10. Even the Supreme Court views the Constitution as just a piece of paper

As a country, we’re completely off the rails. The constitution mandates that Congress and only Congress has the power of the purse. It also is the only governmental body that can declare war. Well the whole thing about Congress declaring war went out the window decades ago.

But now money that was voted on to go to Defense spending is going to be re-purposed on the whim of the executive branch. That means the whole notion of constitutionality and following the constitution is affectively dead at this point.

The federal budget now is just a big slush fund that the executive branch can move around for whatever priorities they deem appropriate. We are no longer a republic governed by a set of rules.

We have slid into a dictatorship? Monarchy? I’m not sure what this is. But I don’t think that the country can be saved at this point.

I’m close enough to the finish line that I can sit here and hope that they won’t cancel Social Security or defund Medicare with an executive order. But my children are going to have to deal with this.

At some point this is going to get violent.
