46. Plot: Single woman, who owns bookstore,

bakery or farm - or works at newspaper, ad agency or book publisher - that’s close to failing but nobody knows. Has older/younger sister who’s married to generic bumbling husband who’s kinda dumb but with heart of gold. Married sister has two very cute, smart daughters with whom single sister is very very close, and married sister is terribly worried about single sister all the time, especially since Mom died. Single sister goes home to small town for Christmas, where she runs into the incomprehensibly studly, and newly widowed, ex-boyfriend that she hates, or the incomprehensibly studly, new-in-town single guy who says something irritating causing her a burning hatred for him. Also then runs into said stud again at small town Christmas barn dance, where she glares at stud and he starts to fall in love...

Christmas is over, back to work in the big city, where by total coincidence studly shows up with business at the place she works, owns. Friends unfathomably fill him in on the failing status, he cooks up a plan to secretly save the business, she finds out, hates him more. Then somehow she ends up drunk, kisses him and they are suddenly back at the family farm getting married. The End.

ETA: I have to come clean and admit I’m not completely immune to those kinds of movies. “Hope Floats” is one of my favorite retreats into escapism But I mean, come on! We’re talking about Harry Connick Jr here, in the glory days of his hawtness! Swoon...

My guilty pleasure. I dvr them to watch when my husband is not home ;-). redstatebluegirl Sep 2019 #1
