That takes guts, and desperation. It is never just one aspect. Yes there are Russians who support Putin, and there are some who support him out of fear-Stockholm syndrome. Look what he does to those that oppose him. Some of the same social dynamics are also at play-men, who do not want a level playing playing field, do not want to see their assumptive sexist, misogynistic, racist, homophobic "rights" challenged. Putin plays to that. Now he has thrown Christianity into the mix-cause nothing says suppression like religion-sexist, anti-choice, god given, etc...The same issues that are put into play here.

Feudalism does resemble capitalism, and a class based society is what feudalism was based on. Just exchange money for titles. But really-it all comes down to power-across all sectors, who benefits. The knuckle-draggers think they benefit from his supremacy, he speaks their fear and hate. It does resemble the swill the serfs were told-if the kingdom does well, we all benefit.
