(4,980 posts)Instead of policies that get at the root cause of folks so desperate to come to the this country and ways to ameliorate such, he uses their misery for show, exacerbates the problem, all the while pretending that they are at fault for economic weaknesses that are actually caused by automation, income inequality caused by stubborn effects of trickle down bs, etc. Pushes racism and cruelty as simple answers to complicated problems while the underlying economic factors plod ahead, unaddressed. For what? One more yacht for a crony donor?
The damage he's exacted upon the children and families is a source of heartache that I'll carry for the rest of my life. How to make things right, or somehow better for his victims is always running in my mind.
Then, on top of all that is flaunting of spoiled privilege as he ignores numerous laws built up over likely millions of manhours of work over the many decades. Laws mean nothing to him, as he puts a tiki torch to the value of good governance. He is so wasteful of time, effort, and lives of the people who actually do the work to make the world around him work. On this point, I must mention the Kurds. His betrayal of them burns white hot in my chest.
I should probably lead with us losing time and ground for combating climate change, but that's connected to everything I've already mentioned. Imo, we can't, as a society, take on a difficult future if we can't respect the lives of all the people around us who can help everyone thrive. We've never had more answers to human problems than right now, and shame on the republicon party for choosing to withhold this truth for the benefit of the relative few that would benefit from their arcane cruelty and waste.
