I considered acting distressed and innocent and trying to play them for as long as possible, then telling them, "it's been fun wasting your time, MFer."

Just don't ever answer the phone, ever! It works for us and we don't get literally any calls...

I wait until someone speaks, walk to the bathroom, hold the phone up to the toilet and flush.
