In reply to the discussion: How to stop scammers from calling you [View all]VarryOn
(2,343 posts)34. I never seem to have this problem, but...
My elderly parents (late 70s) deal with it every day. Why? They answer every DAMN call, no matter if they recognize the number or not. Theres a setting I iPhone to stop your phone from ringing if the number isnt in your contacts. I love it! Sure, Ive missed a couple calls I wished I had gotten. But, if Im expecting an important call, I either add the number to my contacts or I temporarily turn off the unknown call feature.
Of course, this all means I dont get included in poll calls. Just as well, I usually dont give true answers anyway!

Just don't ever answer the phone, ever! It works for us and we don't get literally any calls...

I wait until someone speaks, walk to the bathroom, hold the phone up to the toilet and flush.

I answer the phone, say hello and then park the phone on mute, while they say, Hello? Hello? Hello?
