(644 posts)3. South Dakota included?
I haven't watched the movie yet but I recently read an article in which South Dakota featured predominantly. It seems they had a governor that had the laws changed so that CITI would open up for credit card business without usury laws to stop them from charging outrageous interest rates--other credit card companies followed. Then this governor changed other laws to allow for perpetual trusts to be created that allow a hiding place for the extraordinarily wealthy to deposit money protected from taxes--forever and forever. Thus, SD is now considered to be a secret hiding place, like offshore accounts, for hording money. Other states have followed their lead. Anybody else read the article?
