Bad idea in an election year, but if we win the presidency and dont get a majority in the senate we have to do something to force the senate to hold votes.
Shutting down government might be the only tool we have.
Simple majority at least allows 3 bills a year through reconciliation and votes in judges. We could also change senate rules.
The decade long complete disfunction of the senate is one of the biggest issues to address
