It was founded after the Supreme Court decided to put Bush in the Oval Office.
In those 20-odd years there have been ups and downs: terrorist attacks, wars, the worst recession since the Great Depression, and dirty politics from Republicans. The only reason the last can't be called "the dirtiest of the dirty" is because it got ever gotten dirtier as time went on.
The worst of the downs produced periods of coping. You're not the first to chide people for "sitting around stewing" and "hand wringing", and you won't be the last.
People are doing the very thing's you're encouraging. Just understand, this is part of it.
