There seems to be a vibe that "the worst is behind us all, and the ongoing protective measures are overkill by a handful of nervous nellies." It's as if, once again, the people with expertise who are right on this and who know what they're talking about are just one faction of a multi-sided issue where everyone has an equal chance of being right.
