I'm retired receiving S/S retirement payments.
And MediCare.
I PAID into these programs for decades.
Am I getting more out than I paid in?
I don't know.
And that's not the point.

Some pay in for decades and die early.
They get a $200 death benefit (or what ever it is...not very much) and that's it.
So the plan gets a plus from those.
They paid in, but they don't get paid out.
