(82,849 posts)We called the IRS last week, and after a couple of tries and an hour or more on hold, we finally got through to a nice woman who told us that the IRS has basically not been doing anything for the last few months because nobody has been in the office, which is why we had to wait so long to talk to someone. Anyway, they're hoping that come August 1 that they'll resume more-or-less normal operations at the IRS. Our return submitted on March 15 is probably very close to the front of the line, and the nice woman said it would be four to six weeks from August 1 for our return to be processed.
We'll see what happens. Luckily, we don't need the refund to stave off the wolf at the door. It's more than a little bit aggravating to see Republicans more fretful over someone getting ten bucks more on unemployment than they earn at their crummy minimum wage job, as if that's the biggest problem the country faces right now.
