are such assholes.

I think it’s simpler than that: these people have been indoctrinated since birth to believe in the make believe touted by Christianity. They are schooled in magical thinking. They are told they are privy to secret sacred “knowledge” that escapes all those non-Xians living in the “evil world.” They feel they are included among the few who have been “chosen” by god to spend eternity in heaven.

It’s not a giant leap for these people to embrace the magical thinking espoused by Rs, from economic policies, to the racism and misogyny that runs rampant through the Buy-Bull and that is writ large in current RW thinking. What is QAnon if not an extension of the religious belief that you are privy to secret knowledge?
