like it was when I was younger. Unfortunately, I'm a bit old to have long hair look decent. If it looked good, I would grow it half way down my back. Good for you for growing out your hair! 
I had a great beard that I recently shaved off in order to get a better fitting mask for an eye doctor appointment...I'm in the process of growing it back now. I cut my own hair and trim my own beard. hair is 5/8 inch guard on the back and top, 1/4 inch on the sides. Comes out great, I'll never pay for a barber again!
