He won't try it. Mitt has to keep playing the new "lie-hedge" that Rachel Maddow so excellently observed him doing. For big audiences, Mitt has to say what they want to hear. Then his people quietly take it all back with reporters. Mitt can't be Mr. Republican Tough Guy for large audiences. The idiots on the Tea Party Republican side (bless them) want that, but it would be suicide.

Mitt knows that if he tries to be like the Tea Partiers, he will sink to the bottom of the ocean (and then another ten feet into the silt). And even after Romney did what the Tea Party wanted and sank, the Tea Party would just say he sank because he didn't sell their crazy ideas well.
