(795 posts)I've been in such a dark place since last night, actually for 4 yrs but I had hope that American would show an resounding rejection of Trumpism, but they didn't. It saddens me beyond belief. I remember speaking to a man and his wife in 2016 Slovenia and his commented that he was always amazed at how Americans were united in their love for their country. He said that Slovenians never felt that way about their country. It was during the primary season. I told him we weren't united at all anymore and that there was a growing divide in the country. Little did I know that it would turn into a chasm. I really understand how they feel. I don't have that pride or belief that we are something special. In fact I am embarrassed. Goodheart, I am also originally from Louisiana, my family is still there, and I totally understand what you are saying. Not surprising that 8 out of the 10 lowest education level states are Red, La. being the 3rd least educated. This election should have been a blowout for all three branches of government if people were paying attention and weren't so damn stupid and bigoted.
