We dont need to try to understand or convert hardcore Trump lovers. They are a lost cause. Instead, we need to concentrate on younger voters, people of color, LGBT folks, and unaffiliated voters who are receptive to our ideas.
And youre right - its a long haul. We cry a little, then dust ourselves off and start again.
