5. Well, not strictly a "coup" attempt...

...because everything they might try to do would either be fully legal (if completely against the spirit of democracy), or something that would be made legal by Supreme Court diktat.

But this is really the final and most egregious corrosive act against America of this whole cursed administration. Because, from now on, every election is going to come with an unspoken caveat: it won't be just "how the people have spoken" (even given the idiocy of the Electoral College) -- it will be "how the people have spoken" and "whether the 'powers that be' allow the people to make that choice." Every time, we'll have to worry, once the votes are cast and tallied, what chicanery can be used to throw out those votes and have the side in power simply appoint themselves the winners (once again, completely legally). And there's little doubt that, one day, that will happen -- once that Pandora's Box has been cracked open even a little, it's only a matter of time before it gets flung wide.
