I want to know what the rules were. I would think it against the rules to bring anything to the lectern that isn't already there. Even if it appears to be a handkerchief that still troubles me because you can't be sure. It's more of the Romney arrogance of "trust me, even though I haven't done anything to earn your trust. I'm entitled to do whatever I want."
