2. 2/3 of the Senators in attendance is what's needed.

If only 60 Senators are present, 40 votes are needed for conviction.

My feeling: the best course for R Senators is to skip the trial. They can then say they never voted to convict tRump. Leave it to the Ds and a handful of Rs to do what’s right.
