15. That won't happen. Skipping the trial will be viewed extremely negatively by voters.

Republican voters in particular will not forgive any Republican that doesn't vote to acquit. Some Republicans like Collins, who probably has run for office for the last time, and Murkoowski, who already is essentially an independent, and a few others, could get away not voting to acquit.
