19. Honestly, the actual racists in white America aren't the biggest problem.

The biggest problem in white America are the staggering number of white folk who as yet fail to recognize that the reason they were led to believe many of the things they believe, upon the basis of which they have been manipulated to oppose the things they oppose, IS, in fact, racism, despite however it may have been packaged and advertised to them...

Whether or not said individual white American actually shares the racism to perpetuate which their beliefs and positions have been manipulated.

That's how we can end up with movements like MAGA, or at least some parts of the coalition, welcoming folks like Ali Alexander or what's-his-face from the Insecure Toddlers. On paper, the issue is voter fraud, not race, so their race does not automatically make them an enemy to other people who believe the same shit, fed to them for the same reason. At least not to those who are not actually racist. But that doesn't change the underlying beliefs and positions themselves actually being rooted in racism, and designed to perpetuate white supremacy.

In short, we have a *comparatively* small number of actual racists in white America.
But we have a staggering number of people who allow themselves to be/remain useful idiots to racists.

Now that's not to excuse them from the consequences of their ignorance, be it willful or merely as a product of negligence, but I do think it is important for us to recognize that we face two very distinct problems when it comes to the perpetuation of racism, because not embracing it does not mean that you are not perpetuating it.

I would argue that America is rooted in racism and white supremacy. David__77 Jan 2021 #1
