My comments: Even though the first African-American slaves were brought to Jamestown colony in Virginia, Massachusetts was the first colony to legalize slavery in 1641. Slavery spread throughout ALL of the American colonies. The US Constitution did not address the issue of slavery when it was adopted in 1787.
