The goons believe in violence and threats of violence to bully those who don't agree, or want to assert their rights. The city I used to live in had a large, heavily armed response, sent out through social media, to about six college students of color putting on a small demonstration because the word went out that "antifa" was in town. They proudly see themselves as the shock troops of this illiberal movement and, believe me, they are everywhere in this country. If we don't act, you are right, we will lose the long term fight for democracy everywhere.
