Repug victories don't depend on bright red districts and states. They depend on purple swing districts, and this spectacle will turn those people off for a long time. So the question is not just what fringe groups control the repugs; it's also what can the repug party control, going forward.

I think that, following this debacle, repugs will have to find a way to divorce themselves from radical elements and from dump. Otherwise, they'll circle the drain with dross like Don Jr., Hawley, Haley, or some other far-right winger and insurrectionist. To find their way back to a position centrist enough to appeal to swing voters, they have to find candidates who are free of all this stink.
