14. Your characterization of golf is belied by my decades on the golf course

Most golfers are not rich.

Most golf is played on public courses that cost $30-$50 a round. That translates to about $10/hour for exercise and 5 hours in a lovely park. Most golfers paid a few hundred bucks for their clubs. Go to any public course on a Saturday morning and you'll find people from all walks of life lined up to play. It's quite egalitarian.

Self-absorbed? That's a bit harsh but the game requires one to focus on one's golf swing.

Sorry you were "annoyed" that Martin was given an advantage by riding in a cart when other players had to walk but consider this: A 7,000 yard golf course is somewhere between a 5- and 7-mile walk during which one has to make 70-90 precision golf shots. By the time you're playing the final holes, you're tired but you still have to make nearly perfect shots. Do you really think it's a fair game if one player HAS to walk but another gets to ride? How in the world is that a level playing field?

Have you ever played the game? it is one of the great equalizers because players don't care about anything other than can you hit the ball. It doesn't matter if you've got money, the latest equipment or the coolest clothes. You can either play or not. Trust me, some ot the best golfers I've played with are no richer than you or I.

Casey Martin won his case is court but lost his shit on the course. He's hardly a hero.

Tiger has been finished for some time now. When he won his 15th major at the Masters a few years ago, people said, "He's back!" What they didn't consider is that of golf's 4 majors, the Masters is probably the easiest. This is because the field of players is small, many of the competitors are older and they always play the same course. It is arguably one of the greatest championships in all of sports but it's not the most difficult.

What this means is that Tiger could not once again win the U.S. Open or the PGA Championship. He might contend at the Open Championship (British Open) but he probably couldn't win there, either.

Kindly reconsider you stereotypical attitude about golf. It's a great sport and your perception is not borne out by what's really going on.
