28. Republicans know Democrats will push for their own to resign over this kind of stuff.

So they cook stuff up or embellish and spin and dig and hope Democrats will "helpfully" punish their own so Republicans don't have to get their hands dirty.

And Democrats almost always fall for it, saying they are "doing the right thing."

Letting Republicans succeed in this kind of remote character assassination, however, is not "the right thing."
