In reply to the discussion: GOP senator begs for 'spirit of forgiveness' after insurrection: 'It's time to move on' [View all]Martin Eden
(12,863 posts)Hey Roger, there can be no "forgiveness" or "moving on" while you continue to refer to LIES as facts.
The first thing you and your Republican cohorts have to do is very publicly proclaim the election was NOT stolen from Donald Trump, and that Joe Biden legitimately won.
Next, even more importantly, you and your Republican cohorts in state governments have to cease and desist in all your efforts to suppress voting rights. Instead, get behind and help pass the federal legislation now being put forward to secure those rights.
Until you disabuse your constituents of their belief in the BIG LIE and reverse voter suppression laws promoted by the BIG LIE, there can be NO forgiveness or moving on.
But, of course, we know you won't do any of those things because you and your party can't hold onto political power without voter suppression and gerrymandering and constantly manipulating your base with BIG LIES and conspiracy theories and racial fearmongering.
In order to truly MAKE AMERICA GREAT it is absolutely necessary to rid American politics of you and the decades of lies and thinly veiled white supremacy so thoroughly embodied in the former guy you tried to re-install during the Jan 6 coup attempt.
Forgiveness requires genuine repentance in both words and actions. Nobody is holding their breath waiting for you to do the right thing.
