He made some excellent points. It is not that we shouldn't try to make our world a better place, but once and awhile we need to stop and realize how good we have it compared to many parts of the world or to just a generation or two ago in this country. It is a matter of putting things in perspective now and then, lest one comes across as a whiner with little concept of world events or world events. Take a pause and acknowledge how far we've come and then make plans to move forward and build on that.

Maher often irritates me and this past year it has been more and more frequent, but on occasion he still nails it. I knew what he was saying and I knew who he was talking to.
